As a child of eight, I was a devoted patron of Lilliput from its launching. The monthly ritual of unveiling the array of doubles is a keenly remembered delight to this very day; and I was surely not the only future graphic designer or photographer to be so entranced by them. Though it is almost forgotten as an original and unique contribution to our craft, it thoroughly deserves a place in your list of paragons.

Lorant left the United Kingdom in 1940, dismayed at being treated as a hostile alien, and settled in the United States for the rest of his long life (he died in 1997).
