Event monitors

The monitoring table functions and administrative views return the monitoring information for the specific point in time that the routine or the view was run. This is useful when you want to check the current state of your system. However, there are times when you need to capture information about the state of your system at the exact time a specific event occurs. Event monitors serve this purpose.

Event monitors can be created to capture point-in-time information related to different kinds of events that take place within your system. For example, you can create an event monitor to capture information whenever a deadlock cycle or a lock timeout event occurs.
