Migrating Oracle database objects on to DB2 9.7
In earlier days, it was a little difficult to migrate the database from one server to another. The reasons were many, for example data type portability was not efficient, database objects, such as procedures, functions, sequences, and triggers needed application development team efforts to modify to another database server code base, and so on. After having the Oracle Compatibility Feature enabled in DB2 9.7, the database migration including all the database objects and data is made so simple, that a 4~5 TB of data can be migrated in less than two days. The reason behind this efficient database server-enablement is code compatibility between Oracle and DB2 9.7.
