It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

5.1 DBRC background information
The IMS DBRC facility manages information that is required for system and database
integrity, database recovery, and databases access by various IMS subsystems. As an
integral part of the system, DBRC manages information about many items and stores this
information in a set of Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM) data sets that are collectively
called the RECON data set.
More specifically, DBRC offers the following support:
It helps you ensure IMS system and database integrity by recording and managing
information associated with the logging process.
It assists IMS in the restart process by notifying IMS of which logs to use for restart.
