It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

6.1 OTMA support for asynchronous IMS to IMS
communications
Before IMS 12, if you wanted to route an asynchronous transaction from one IMS to another
IMS over a TCP/IP network, you had to create a gateway application that received messages
from one IMS using resume TPIPE processing. Then you had to insert it into the other IMS
using send-only processing.
The need for a customer written gateway is removed with IMS 12. You can now define a
remote IMS system in IMS Connect and an Open Transaction Manager Access (OTMA)
