In this chapter, you learned about the new features of Sametime 8.5.2, both for the server and for the client. You learned about the Sametime 8.5.2 server architecture and how it differs from prior versions. You found what requirements exist for operating systems and hardware configurations, as well as the licensing involved. You saw some sample Sametime system configurations and how each one might work for a particular situation. Finally, you learned the reasons why upgrading to Sametime 8.5.2 is a good idea. In the next chapter you will learn about each of the servers that comprise a Sametime environment, their requirements for server and operating systems, and how they interact with each other.
