Appendix B. Deployment Checklist

Often, the best-laid deployment plans go awry due to haste or miscommunication. It only takes one missed step to thwart the careful planning and hard work of an entire team, and backing out a botched deployment isn't pleasant. Deployment is something that is best done quickly and efficiently, particularly since, in many cases, systems are down or applications are unavailable during this time. We have provided a checklist of things to think about before the actual process starts. This can (and should) be augmented with environment-specific items or others found in this book.
