J2EE Web Application Characteristics

J2EE web applications usually use a combination of Servlets and JSP. J2EE web applications have evolved to use the Model View Controller (MVC) design pattern. MVC is a way to structure code to separate the concerns of an application. In J2EE applications, the model usually represents the business logic and data. This layer is usually implemented using technology such as EJB, JDBC, and JavaBeans. The controller layer is usually implemented using Servlets.
