Server Management Commands
Starting Servers
The startServer, startNode, and startManager commands are used to launch various types of servers. With the startServer command you can start any server on the local machine. The startNode and startManager commands are provided for convenience to start the node agent or Deployment Manager servers. Because startNode and startManager are aliases for appropriate startServer commands (startServer nodeagent and startServer dmgr), all discussion of startServer applies equally to the other two commands, except that you do not provide a server name on the command.
With the simplest version of startServer you only provide the name of the server (startNode and startManager do not require any parameters):
C:\WebSphere\AppServer\bin>startServer ...
