CHPID assignment and the CHPID Mapping Tool
In previous generations of platforms, the channel path identifier (CHPID) assignments were fixed and could not be changed. IBM z System platforms allow you to assign the CHPID number for any feature on the platform that has a CHPID number that is associated with it. The latest level of the CHPID Mapping Tool is available for z Systems mapping. The CHPID assignment functions are described in this appendix.
