Preparing for a new z14
This chapter describes two scenarios when preparing for a z14 server installation:
•Upgrading an existing IBM Z server (zEC12, zBC12, z13 or z13s) to a z14 server and maintaining your existing serial number.
•Installing a new z14 zServer into an existing environment.
Our examples only show upgrading from an existing z13 or installing a new z14. An upgrade includes frames (Z and A), drawers (CPC and PCIe I/O), and new I/O features.
