Don’ t be the person who says, I wrote this, I want to make it, I want to be in it, this is the only way to do this, because the bottom line is, if I had not taken the opportunity to make the movie [Swingers] the way we did it, it would never have happened. I was able to enjoy probably more creative control as a co-producer on this film—being able to be in the editing room, picking the music, the people, the wardrobe—than if I were the director, much less a first-time director working with a studio or a mini-studio. They would have never given me the amount of control that I had in this situation. So by not worrying about the credit or the money, I ended up getting the film that I wanted.”
