Chapter 29. Preferences
In this reference chapter, you’ll learn how to choose default command, tool, and panel settings for current and future documents in the 11 panes of the Preferences dialog box: General, Selection & Anchor Display, Type, Units &Display Performance, Guides &Grid, Smart Guides &Slices, Hyphenation, Plug-ins &Scratch Disks, User Interface, File Handling &Clipboard, and Appearance of Black.
General Preferences
To open this dialog box, choose Illustrator (Edit, in Windows) > Preferences > General (Cmd-K/Ctrl-K).
Keyboard Increment
This value is the distance (0–1296 pt.) a selected object moves when an arrow key is pressed on the keyboard. To move a selected object 10 times the current Keyboard Increment, press Shift-arrow.
