11.5 Results
11.5.1 Data Set
We used a database consisting of 55 color fundus images in JPEG format taken by a
TOPCON TRC 50-EX mydriatic retinograph provided by the University Hospital Puerta
del Mar, Cádiz, Spain. The image size is 2544 × 1696 pixels. Our hardware research equip-
ment consists of an HP Compaq dc7600 Convertible computer with 1 GB RAM and an Intel
processor with 2.77 GHz. The software used was MATLAB software (2008a release).
To maintain a reasonable processing speed without diminishing the accuracy of the results,
the images have been automatically resized to a 600 × 600 pixels ...
