3 Improved Directional Local Extrema Patterns

3.1 Introduction

In this chapter, improvements made to Directional Local Extrema Patterns [DLEP] are presented. DLEP extract the spatial relationship among the pixels by considering the center pixel as a threshold. An attempt is made in the current work by adding color feature and Gabor feature to DLEP. The proposed methods are tested with Corel-1k database. Experiments showed considerable improved results in evaluation metrics.
