6 Local Mesh Quantized Extrema Patterns

6.1 Introduction

Local quantized patterns (Hussain and Triggs 2012) and directional local extrema patterns (Murala et al. 2012a) motivated us to design local mesh quantized extrema patterns (LMeQEP) for image retrieval. Major contributions of the work are summarized as follows: (i) a mesh quantized HVDA structure is explored from image. (ii) Local extrema is extracted from mesh structures to produce LMeQEP. (iii) To achieve improved performance, LMeQEP and RGB histogram are integrated. (iv) Experimentation is done on benchmark image databases.
