Stereoscopic 3D cinema
12.1 Introduction
In the past few years there has been a resurgence of stereoscopic 3D (S3D)
cinema, with many voices in the industry arguing that this time 3D is here
to stay. The truth is that stereography, as created by Wheatstone in 1838,
predates photography, and 3D movies were invented by William Friese-Green
