5Image Reconstruction from Projections

Image reconstruction from projections is a special kind of image processing, whose input is a sequence of projected images and whose output is the reconstructed image. Reconstruction from projections can also be considered as a special kind of image restoration process. If the projection process is a degradation process, the reconstruction process is then a restoration process. During the projection phase, the information along the projection direction has been lost (only the 1-D information is left), and the reconstruction recovers this information from multiple projections.
