Why do you make pictures?
I make pictures to make sense of the world. Often it’s a reaction to the awe and wonder of things—small moments or big events. I have so many questions about this world and about life. Taking a hard, long look at things helps resolve some issues for me. I also love that photography knows no boundaries; it’s only we who limit it. Photography can be as imaginative as we can be. It offers a blank page or palette on which we can tell stories, real or imagined, because it’s a universal language. All viewers bring their own understanding to it.
