to apply their eventual results to treat radiation exposure of
humans. Rapidly, they found that mice and rats exposed to
more than 900 RAD would die in 5 days, but could be saved
if infused with bone marrow cells from the same species, and
even cross-species, e.g., infusing rat cells into mice. This was an
important result, and ready to be applied in cases of accidental
exposure of workers in the atomic plants (minor accidents,
