In nature, immunoglobulins are divided into fi ve different
classes based on differences in the amino acid sequence in the
constant region of the heavy chains [101]. All immunoglobulins
within a given class will have very similar heavy chain constant
regions: IgG-γ, IgM-µ, IgA-α, IgD-δ and IgE-ε heavy chains.
In general, however, IgG is prominent and the most versatile
immunoglobulin, capable of carrying out all the functions of
immunoglobulins. For the purpose of simulating its effect in a
virtual immune system, suffi ce it to say that IgG is the major
immunoglobulin in serum (75% of serum antibodies) and the
major immunoglobulin in extra vascular spaces. ...
