Specific Applications
The versatility of the model becomes useful when trying to
model a specifi c pathology such as, for example, infection by a
complex virus, allergies or cancer. The modus operandi is always
the same. First, identify the key players as agents, and then
translate immunological knowledge about their behaviour into
logical rules. Finally, after having dealt with all the technicalities
of the implementation, validate the model by comparing the
outcome with experimental data, keeping in mind that some
simplifi cations and approximations are needed even when
interpreting the model output.
