Getting iMovie ’09

If you bought a Mac after February 2009, iMovie ’09 should already be installed. Otherwise, you need to purchase iLife ’09, Apple’s $79 suite of digital hub applications (www.apple.com/ilife/), which includes iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, GarageBand, and iWeb.

If iMovie ’08 is already installed, the iLife ’09 installer will overwrite it. If you want to keep a copy just in case, rename the “iMovie” application to “iMovie ’08” before installing iLife ’09.

If you still have a copy of iMovie HD 6, the iLife installer ignores it, and you can still use it. Unfortunately, iMovie HD 6 is no longer available as a free download, which was the case when iMovie ’08 was released.

iMovie runs only under Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later ...
