Method 4: HomePage

Although using iWeb is incredibly simple, it entails a lot of sitting and waiting for the program to compute and upload things. HTML aficionados also complain that iWeb's behind-the-scenes HTML code can be a tad unorthodox.

Fortunately, there's yet another way to go about creating, editing, and managing your video galleries online: Visit your MobileMe Web site and use HomePage. The advantage here is that you can make changes to your movie pages even when you're far from home, using any Web-connected computer.

Note

Even though you paid for a MobileMe account, everything related to HomePage is still branded with .Mac (the old name for MobileMe). That's because Apple hasn't done anything with HomePage for years—but that doesn't mean you can't do something with it.

To get started with HomePage, first you have to export the video from iMovie as a QuickTime movie with modest dimensions and frame rate, as described in Chapter 14 (The Export Pop-up Menu). Once you've done that, copy the movies you want to publish to the Movies folder of your iDisk, as shown in Figure 13-9.

To summon your iDisk icon to the screen, choose its name from the Go menu in the Finder (top left). The icon appears on your desktop, bearing your member name (top right). Double-click it—and wait—to see its contents (bottom). Then copy the movies you want to post online into the Movies folder.
