A data center has multiple types of traffic and thus multiple networks for each traffic type. The different traffic types in the data center are:
- User traffic: This is the business data traffic that is the actual traffic from the users, applications, or the database servers on the user plane.
- Management traffic: This consists of the traffic used by the network operations teams to monitor and maintain the network infrastructure. This traffic could also be on Ethernet links, but these links are generally separated from the user traffic links, so that the devices can be accessed through the management network even if the user plane is flooded or malfunctioning.
