Chapter 16. Top-Level Systems Architecture
The first step in determining an architecture is to define the major system participants in each business process being considered. Some of these system participants may have already been identified as part of the business process definition since their participation is mandated. Their presence and the role they will play have already been established. The remainder of the functionality to be provided by systems was intentionally assigned to a single swimlane representing the systems as a whole. Your task at this point is to determine which components should be involved and what role each will play.
