9Alternative Approaches
This chapter articulates some alternative approaches to and ways of thinking about retrospectives. These don’t conform strictly to the phase model of standard retrospectives and are sometimes completely different. The ideas in this chapter are designed to help you make retrospectives even more interesting.
9.1 Work Retrospectives
At the beginning of 2013, I stumbled across a blog post by Yves Hanoulle, in which he described a special form of retrospective: the work retrospective. Like many other retrospective facilitators, he has often met teams that had no further interest in doing retrospectives. In most cases, these teams explained the reason for their lack of interest as follows:
