are made, not all the relevant technologies have been addressed. Many
countries designing televisions, for example, use various instruments
made by the United States, Japan, or Germany, which means the com-
panies outside those three countries are not developing their own origi-
nal technologies. If, say, there is no original apparatus for checking
picture quality quantitatively as one of the performance fundamentals,
the company does not have the differentiation technology to make its
products unique. This will damage the company’s ability to survive in
