out trade barriers, is it unrealistic to estimate that about 10 carmakers in
the world would be decreased to 2 or 3 in every product segment?
Imagine that there would be two strong companies for every prod-
uct worldwide. The competition among them would be erce, so CEOs
should never be careless. Actually in the business of basic components
and materials, such situations have already occurred. Extreme competi-
tion will continue until two strong companies remain, except possibly in
some recently generated high-tech elds.
