12.1. Introduction

This chapter discusses the Rich Communication Suite, or RCS. Chapter 5 covered IMS’s role within capital goods software and how to develop applications on a slightly larger scale for companies, in particular companies functioning as system integrators within the global economy. In this chapter, we now focus our attention on consumer goods software, i.e. software that is used by individual consumers on their handsets. Here, we discuss how to use the profiles developed by GSMA in the Rich Communications Suite (RCS) to create applications for end-user consumers.
