Acknowledgments
I first acknowledge the committed young people who enter our military academies, colleges, universities, firefighter training courses, police academies, and other public service training and education programs knowing full well that they will lead others in life-threatening circumstances and may lose their lives as a result. My early study and writing was all about giving them, especially cadets at West Point, leadership concepts specific to their incredible challenges. They are the reason I started thinking and writing about in extremis leadership, although the book in your hand is a broader work that I hope will inspire leaders from many walks of life.
I’m profoundly grateful to Frances Hesselbein, Bob Gaylord, and the Leader ...
