Everything we do has a laser focus on how we are creating space for conversations, where people look forward to, not dread engaging. There is a great old Irish phrase, “Irish diplomacy is the ability to tell a man to go to hell in a way that he looks forward to the trip.” We know that inclusion isn't hell, we know it's the opposite, we're trying to get people to go somewhere fabulous, but traditional methods of training and change make people not look forward to the trip. We have flipped this. We have created inclusion campaigns that don't have a finishing line and inspire our people to be a part of the journey.

DEIB progress requires being honest about where you are today, having a compelling destination to go for, and then, a clear strategy and plan of execution. You may remember earlier on in the book we asked you to consider the Inclusion Evolution Map: at which stage are you, and your organization, currently; are you at the stage Ignore it, Understand it, Believe it, Live it, or Evolve it? Knowing where you and your organization are on this curve and what your aspirations are for the future is essential to developing a DEIB strategy. This requires open and honest perspectives to ensure any strategy developed will be realistic and have the greatest chance of buy‐in.
