Given the complexity of software development, it is only natural that industrial players are doubtful about new development paradigms and technologies and would rather stick to well-established mechanisms. This phenomenon may explain why there are very few serious applications of agent technology in industrial software development processes. Furthermore, most available agent frameworks were developed to answer research questions and were not designed for industrial appliances.
