Developing Empathy

Empathy is the ability to read a person’s responses by imaginatively putting yourself in his or her place. Develop this skill by listening, and by asking questions that get to the root of concerns, so that you can lead discussions in a positive way.

Try to interpret people’s intentions, as well as listening to what they say.

Being intuitive

Gifted communicators have the ability to sense what others are thinking. When you are listening to someone, be intuitive. Use your imagination and your past experience of similar situations to give you some clues as to what the other person is feeling. Imagine that you are the other person and try to understand his or her needs.
