Full bibliographic entries for references are included in the bibliography at the back of this book. Codd (1969, 1970) introduced the relational model of data. For a historical discussion of these two papers, see Date (1998). Codd (1990) suggests future directions for the relational model. The classic paper that introduced Entity-Relationship modeling is Chen (1976). Kent (2000) is a reprint of a classic book that provides many insights into the nature of information and data.
