There are dozens of ER notations in existence, and minor variations exist in CASE tool implementations of the main notations discussed in this chapter. Dr. Peter Chen is still active in the field, and is on the steering committee for the international Entity Relationship conferences, which have been held yearly since 1981, and have been broadened in scope to include all forms of conceptual modeling. The proceedings of the ER conferences are published by Springer (www.springer.com).
