curate locations (from or to) that require moving again, inaccurate Product
weights that increase transportation costs, and Information Scrap and Rework
of defective and missing Information.
How to Improve Logistics and Inventory Information Process
Quality (TIQM P4)
The preceding assessments should give you an indication if and where you or
your trade partners’ logistics processes may be broken. If the current logistics
processes (multiple processes in Customer organizations and internal within your
organization) are causing process failure, waste, and Product and Information
Scrap and Rework, you, or your Customers, can use the classic Plan-Do-Check/
Study-Act cycle described in TIQM P4 “Improve Information Process Quality”
in Chapter 7. You may also use TIQM Six Sigma and apply the DMAIC (Define-
Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) format, which implements the same TIQM
processes, but in a slightly different way. See the TIQM Six Sigma DMAIC map-
ping in Chapter 7, Table 7-7, “TIQM Processes and Steps Mapped to Six Sigma
Phases and Steps.”
