Detroit increased the size of the lights for greater visibility, using LED lights
that are more efficient and less subject to total failure. It also increased the size
of the backplanes to reduce glare and interference with background light and
clutter. The results in accidents caused by running red lights has decreased 4
percent for drivers 25–64, but accidents have decreased 35 percent for drivers
65 and older.
In the center of Athens, office and apartment number ranges are on the corners
of each intersection to direct visitors or shoppers, illustrated in Figure 14-29.
