Workers request Information Systems that enable them to perform their
work effectively and Databases that house the data they need to perform
their work and make decisions effectively.
2. Information Modelers or Architects facilitate the development of
“Enterprise-Strength” Information Models: Such Models capture
Information Requirements by Business Resource, such as Party (Customer,
Supplier, Employee, etc.), Product, Financials, Facilities, and Equipment,
for example. They will involve Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across the
Enterprise who have a stake in the Business Resource being modeled. This
Model documents and defines the fundamental Objects and Events, and
the Attributes about those Objects and Events that the Enterprise needs
to know about to perform its work and accomplish its Mission.
Functional Requirements will be defined for the Application System to be
designed, and Information Requirements will be defined for the Database
Design to meet all dependent Knowledge Worker Requirements.
3. Database Designers Develop “Enterprise-Strength” Database Designs:
“Enterprise-Strength” Databases ensure that all facts are able to be captured
