enables the business to understand the meaning of the term when used
in different contexts. (See section “Information Definition Quality” on

The business term name should be a commonly accepted name, an indus-
try standard name, or an internally coined term with internal acceptance
in a domain context, such as accounting, health and safety, manufacturing,
or quality management, for example.
Entity Type Name quality:

Entity Type names are labels for the object
or event classifications the enterprise needs to know about. The names
should represent a singular classification of objects or events that the
enterprise has an interest in. Unlike business term names, which may
have different meanings, an entity type name should represent one and
only one classification of objects or events, such as “Product,” “Account,”
“Order,” or “Party.” A “Party” has two structural subtypes, “Person” and
“Organization,” or appropriate synonyms. The objects or events repre-
sented by one entity type or subtype name should share some common
characteristics. Characteristics of “persons” are “person birth date,” “family
name” “given name,” and “marital status,” for example. Many of these
