TIQM P2: Assess Information Quality
Whereas TIQM P1 assesses the quality of the “Information Product Specifications,”
TIQM P2 assesses the quality of the raw material of Information — Data — and
the Finished “Information Product” as presented to Knowledge Workers or
applied to work. See Figure 5-1 in relationship to other TIQM Processes.
Though you do not need to conduct a P1 to assess Information Product
Specification data before you measure the Information Quality, you must know
the meaning of the data to assess it properly based on Knowledge Worker
expectations in order to measure the Critical-to-Quality Attributes.
Because IQ Assessment is a cost item, minimize the cost by:
Measuring the right Information (Critical-to-Quality [CTQ]) to the busi-

ness first
Measuring the CTQ IQ Characteristics that meet Knowledge Worker

CTQ requirements
Minimizing the costs by using statistical sampling to reduce costs of

assessment without compromising the integrity of the assessment
