P3.2.5 Determine the number of unique, Record-of-Origin/Record-of-Reference
database files (infrastructure) versus the number of redundant database
files (cost-adding).
P3.2.6 Determine the total Information Systems annual budget for development
and maintenance of applications and databases, including acquisition
of purchased software and hardware over the typical life of applica-
tions, such as 5, 7, or 10 years. This excludes production operations
and operations support. The figures represent the resource planning
costs, not the cost of operating the applications and databases. See the
example in Figure 6-9.
Note Use net present value when calculating past years’ budgets. If actual
budget data is not available, use reliable estimates.
