342 Part II n The Step-by-Step Guide to the TIQM Quality System
Step P5.2: Conduct TIQM P1. Assess Information Product
Specifications and Architecture Quality
This is TIQM P1, as outlined in Chapter 4. Follow the steps in TIQM P1 to pro-
vide an accurate picture of how well the data requiring correction is defined
and how well the Information Model(s) and database(s) are architected.
Note Often, data with quality problems also has Poor or No Definition,
leaving the Knowledge Workers and Information Producers alike to specu-
late on its meaning. A necessary part of Information Scrap and Rework is to
rework and redefine the meaning of the critical Information.
Objective of Step P5.2
Ensure that you have a correct and complete Definition of the data, its Business
Rule Specifications, and Valid Value Sets as well as the Quality of the Information
Architecture. This is required before you conduct the data correction.
Figure 8-8 assess the quality of the Information Product specifications data
to ensure you know the meaning of the data.
