1. Develop record count controls to ensure proper record handling. Note
that this is done well in ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) software. See
Figure 8-18 for an example of the “Order Record” Count.
This example illustrates Record Count Controls:
1.1. Identify an independent count of Records to Input into a process.
Total Count of Records expected = 11,200
1.2. Count the number of Records as they are input into the process.
1.3. Identify the control data for record handling:
Unchanged records passed = 11,050.

Consolidated records passed (in this example) = 12.
