If the fields of computer science and technology analysis could be considered in their adoles-
cence, truly, the discipline of information assurance (IA) is in its infancy. As recently as 2005,
trade journals included articles filled with discussion surrounding the “pressing need to formalize
information security as a profession” (Wyatt 2005). Compare this discussion to a long-since estab-
