Cloud Cryptography

Introduction
Cryptography is presumed to play a critical role in securing the cloud, much as it is assumed that
cryptography secures the Internet. To discuss cryptography’s role in securing the cloud, one must
first understand the cloud. e chief technology officer (CTO) for the Central Intelligence Agency
(CIA) [1] provided a whimsical definition:
