Delta Lloyd Deutschland AG (DLD) was faced with rising costs for hosting the IBM mainframe platform. At the same time, a corporate initiative was put in place to integrate new business partners into their IT portfolio. This situation was putting company-projected growth plans at risk.
Compounding these business issues was an initiative led by the IT organization to achieve the following objectives:
- Online services for all products in a 24/7 environment
- A services-oriented architecture (SOA) with Web-based access and agile business processes
- Higher security standards for access to products
