Chapter 4

Culture

Abstract

Even if a country has a history of innovation in the past and an economy that is growing rapidly, it may not have the social and cultural factors that encourage the spirit of innovation. This is an area that particularly may bring out the contrast between Western societies, such as the United States, and China and India. In this chapter, we delve into this topic and explore whether there are winds of change in Eastern cultures that might foretell a different future from that of the past.
