Although the telephone is a modern invention that arrived less than 200 years ago, the science of medicine and diagnostics evolved nearly 5,000 years back in India and China. The four Vedas written between 2000 BCE and 500 BCE provided the first principles of Ayurvedic and Yogic therapy, which were basically “nature-based” healing recipes for the body and the mind. Yoga has gone global; while Ayurveda—an alternate plant and mineral-based medication procedure—is still in practice by millions across Asia. Traditional Chinese medicine based on yin and yang and popular procedures like acupressure and acupuncture have also survived for centuries.
