URLs as First-Class Citizens
In order to make the Internet access truly transparent in AutoCAD 2002, most of the intrinsic commands that either read a file or write to one have been enhanced to accept Uniform Resource Locators (URLs). This allows the user to specify remote sites on the Internet as the source or the destination of the command. Doing so offers an enormous potential in collaborative design. In addition, this has been accomplished without the introduction of new paradigms—the familiar user-interface elements have been extended to integrate seamless access to the Internet. However, there have been other additions to the program interface in order to facilitate a more convenient and intuitive extension of the desktop.
